May I love UP to the place you belong

Hello wonderful,

I hope you are loving yourself.

I hope you find what you are looking for.

I hope you are healing.

I hope you smile more than you cry.

I hope you are learning.

I hope you are teaching.

I hope you the best.

May you be loved to where you need to be.

May you move forward in this journey called life.

May you have company along the way.

May you know that you are great company to have, even to yourself.

Move forward my love, move forward with the knowing that you are divine.

Here comes the SUN!

Hello my loves,

The times we are leaving in can quite frankly inspire feelings of bleakness and defeat. The lives of young black men are devalued. The education of our youth is up for auction. Our debt, bills, heart aches….whoooa chile there is alot

But I ask you this why do you continue? What causes you to wake and keep trying?

Perhaps its the ones we love, our purpose or that one day that made you remember that life is a journey, that life is flexible and we are in power.

I continue because of the kids that smile and speak to me on the train. For that little girl that asked me if I was afraid of bugs when we saw an ant on the A train. I continue for the elder in the park that plays chess. I continue for the students that love me back, loving is such a powerful gift. I continue for the many bright days. For the unknown love and lessons coming my way.

So today I gift you with a song that reminds that the sun is around the corner.

Live in your light!

Good Life by Inner City

I love music! I have always loved music. Music is a meaningful part of my healing and spiritual practice. Music has been there through all my growth and needs. I encourage you to make a playlist of songs that service and encourage your purpose, joy and sanity!

This song reminds me of the divine beauty of living your best life!

I recall as a young 5 year old jamming to this song with Aunt Jen, Aunt Robin, Aunt Cookie and their fly friends.  I can still feel the joy from those times. The communicational dancing, the bass blasting and all of us singing over & over:

Love is shining
life is thriving in the good life
good life

Now read those words again chile! Go head and come back…………………………………………………

Those words are a mantra. A proclamation. I sung that at the age of 5! When you reflect on your youth I PROMISE!, you will  re-discover that magic you embody.

This song has become a mainstay in my personal gospel. Perhaps today you can add it to yours.

Enjoy the day, hour, second and minute you are in now.

Live that GOOD LIFE!

I got a story to tell!

We all have a story to tell, to be heard, to be valued, to be learned from and sometimes to be told again.

We have stories of love, pain, healing, laughter, sorrow, anger and pure bliss. Tell your story and tell it true.

Today, as I set up my new classroom this song ringed in my new space, to be shared with amazing students this school year. I am humbled by how my life has grown this year: new apartment, new relationships, new job! and a renewed outlook.

Whats your story?
